Senior Spotlight: Andrew Pickens

Andrew Pickens is a member of Oak Hall’s varsity football, varsity basketball, and varsity baseball teams!

A – What is some advice that you’d give your freshman self? Talk less, listen more. Be a lot more humble and get in the weight room.
B – What is your best pregame meal? Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich.
C – What are your coach’s best words of advice? Just snap and clear, just after a play just forget about what happened, and just be ready to give it your all in the next one.
D – What is your dream job? I want to own my own media company, or just in general own my own business.
E – What was your most entertaining practice that you’ve had? Probably summer before my sophomore year, we were practicing in the gym and our coach for football started dancing in the middle of practice. It was really funny.
F – What has been your favorite high school athletic moment? Probably getting our first football playoff win against St. Francis. 
G – What are some of your goals for senior year? Perform well in all of my sports, keep my grades up, and get ready for college. 
H – What college are you hoping to attend? I’m down to three schools, Rhodes College, Furman University, and Lafayette College.
I – What is an interesting thing about you that’s not related to your sports? I know how to play the accordion.
J – What is your favorite joke? St. Francis football.
K – What are your keys to maintaining your homework load? Don’t stress about it, just make sure to keep up with Canvas and just set aside time before and after practice to get it all done. 
L – What would you say your least favorite practice drill is? Just anything running, just because we run during all of our practices and it seems kind of extra.
M – What type of music you listen to/ what is your favorite song? I listen to a lot of rap, some country, and a little bit of electronic music. 
N – What is your top Netflix show recommendation?  I say this to everybody, I tell them to watch Lock and Key, it’s a really good show and I enjoyed watching it. I binged it in four days. 
O – What are some of your other hobbies? I like collecting a lot of sports cards. 
P – When you’re preparing for an important game, what do you have to do? I like to pray, I like to read Psalm 3 before all of my games, and just listen to music and just get ready with my teammates. 
Q – What is a question you would ask your future self? Are you better than yourself the day before?
R – What is the most relaxing part of your day? Getting home after practice and getting in the shower. 
S – What is your favorite subject this year? Economics. I like the real-world applications in the class and it’s just a fun class to be in. 
T – What is your favorite TV show? Right now, it would probably have to be Mandalorian but if you asked me five years ago I would say Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
U – What do you think the most underrated pet is? I don’t know, I don’t really have an underrated pet. I mean the best pet is definitely a dog. It’s not close.
V – What is your dream vacation spot? Honestly, just St. Augustine Beach. Just spending a week there is great. It’s so relaxing and I know the town well.
W – What does it mean to you to be an Eagle? Just be a well-rounded person and be an example for other people. 
X – Have you ever had to have an X-ray? If so for what? I have not, never broken a bone either. Knock on wood. 
Y – What do you believe your impact to the younger players? I felt like I set an example just by my action, I’d like the think that I left a positive impact on all of the programs I was a part of. Just the guy that people could look up to and ask me stuff and ask me for advice. 
Z – What is your favorite zoo animal? Bald Eagle.
